European Coatings Show 2019: more exhibitors, more display area and more international

For three days, the European Coatings Show will turn Exhibition Centre Nuremberg into the international gathering place for paint and coatings experts. From 19 to 21 March, 1,157 exhibitors (1,135 in 2017) from 48 countries (40 in 2017) will present raw materials and intermediates for the manufacture of paint, coatings, construction chemical products and adhesives at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg. The Start-up Area and “Innovative Young Companies” pavilion put international newcomers and ambitious young firms from Germany centre-stage. The two-day European Coatings Show Conference already started yesterday. With 144 presentations, it offers a comprehensive overview of the current status of R&D for modern coatings formulations.

On an expanded display area covering 8 halls for the first time, coatings experts can expect the most comprehensive market overview in the event’s history. Suppliers of paint, printing inks, raw materials for adhesives and intermediates for construction chemicals will occupy six halls including the new Hall 9. Two other halls will be packed with laboratory and production systems, testing and measuring equipment, and services relating to environmental protection and work safety.

Leading platform for the global coatings industry

The renewed growth in exhibitor numbers and display area booked (up 5 percent on 2017) illustrates the importance of the European Coatings Show as a global industry gathering. “More than two-thirds of exhibitors come from outside Germany and make the European Coatings Show one of the outstanding highlights of the worldwide coatings industry,” explains Alexander Mattausch, Director European Coatings Show at NürnbergMesse. Hall 4 includes a pavilion with exhibitors from the Czech Republic, while a Chinese pavilion is distributed over all halls. China heads the ranks of international exhibitors, followed by Italy and the Netherlands in second and third place. “Together with trade visitors from all around the world, companies from six continents make the European Coatings Show 2019 a global event,” says Amanda Beyer, Director Event Management at Vincentz Network.

Focus on start-ups and young companies

This year too, innovative young companies from Germany will present their solutions at a pavilion in Hall 4A subsidised by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The new Start-up Area, where international newcomers will present their products and services, is waiting to be discovered in hall 1.

Product presentations with compact information format

The product presentation format in halls 1, 4 and 9 enables speakers from exhibiting companies to present the performance characteristics and features of their products. The 20-minute presentations cover various aspects of current developments including environmental compatibility and functionality. The exhibitors from the Start-up Area have their own block in the programme of product presentations in hall 1.

European Coatings Show Conference delivers expert knowledge

The European Coatings Show Conference begins the day before the fair. The two-day conference with 144 presentations by renowned scientists and leading development specialists provides information on such topics as polyurethanes, epoxy coatings, architectural coatings, water-based paints, dye pigments, antimicrobial coatings and radiation curing. In the session “Science Today – Coatings Tomorrow”, the speakers will look into the future of coatings development. This year’s keynote address during the plenary session will be given by Professor Markus Antonietti, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces. He will present modern approaches and processes for the manufacture of monomers, solvents, plasticisers and curable oligomer systems from wood-like waste products. The European Coatings Award will also be presented during the plenary session. The 2,000-euro prize honours the best submission for the conference. On the day before the European Coatings Show Conference, ten pre-conference tutorials offered expertise on issues relating to coatings development and application.
